Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
An intensive course giving practical skills in spotting and taking action on the signs of mental ill health. Participants learn how deal with crisis situations like psychotic episodes, suicide and panic attacks, and how to carry out a difficult conversation with someone who is struggling with depression, anxiety or other mental illnesses. Most importantly, it teaches how to signpost someone to the right support and helps them to recover faster. MHFA is the largest and most established course of its kind. Accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, it exists in 25 countries and has certified over 210,000 people in the UK as Mental Health First Aiders.
